Catherine Swift, BA Hon Econ MA Econ
Advisory council
Catherine Swift is President of the Coalition of Concerned Manufacturers & Businesses of Canada (CCMBC). She was previously President of Working Canadians from 2015-2021 & President & CEO of the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) from 1995-2014. She was Chief Economist of the CFIB from 1987-1995, Senior Economist with TD Bank from 1983-1987 & held several positions with the federal government from 1976-1983.
She has published numerous articles in journals, magazines & other media on issues such as free trade, finance, entrepreneurship & women business owners. Ms. Swift is a past President of the Empire Club of Canada, a former Director of the CD Howe Institute, the Canadian Youth Business Foundation, SOS Children’s Villages, past President of the International Small Business Congress and current Director of the Fraser Institute. She was cited in 2003 & 2012 as one of the most powerful women in Canada by the Women’s Executive Network & is a recipient of the Queen’s Silver & Gold Jubilee medals.
She has an Honours BA and MA in Economics.

Darlene Schindel, RN BScN MHS CPC

Darlene Schindel is an RN with a Masters Degree in Health Studies in Leadership, a Certified Professional Coach, with a Certificate in Deep Coaching, and Certified in 3D Systems Transformation.
Darlene is a passionate advocate for the health and wellbeing of Albertans. During a career that has spanned over many years, she has taken on many different roles and tackled various issues and challenges, all with astounding success.
In 2013 she received the Alberta Medical Association Medal of Honour, which is awarded each year to a non-physician for their contribution to healthcare in Alberta.
She has come to be known as the Nurses’ Nurse. Dedicated to bringing transformational leadership, coaching, and mentoring to the healthcare profession. She is passionate about teaching and inspiring nurses to use their voice and engage in systems redesign where they work and supports them on this journey.
After spending her neuroscience nursing career fixing broken brains and bodies, caring for others, from the bedside to the board room table, her focus now is on building better brains and bodies.
Darlene has taken her passion and enthusiasm for healthier lifestyles to numerous non-profits, various boards, and committees.

Miles Berry, RN BScN
Nursing Leadership Team
Miles is a highly experienced Registered Nurse with a career spanning over three decades in various healthcare roles.
Currently a Transition Coordinator RN for Alberta Health Services, Miles manages complex case management assessments, discharge planning, and care coordination. His work involves facilitating the transition of clients with complex health and psychiatric needs to appropriate care settings while ensuring comprehensive care planning, client support, and ongoing communication between healthcare providers. A strong advocate for housing diversification and sustainability, Miles is also involved in civic, charity, and philanthropic leadership, contributing to infrastructure projects and seniors housing and advocating for holistic health in urban planning.
During the COVID-19 response, he served as an Incident Response Nurse, where he stepped up for COVID testing, LTC support, and relief at provincial call centers like HealthLink. His expertise also extended into Medical Officer of Health (Designate) coverage, where he demonstrated adaptability and critical thinking in rapidly evolving public health scenarios. Miles’ ability to step into multiple reassignments and provide support across the continuum of care showcases his dedication to public health during critical times. His commitment to both individual patient care and broader public health initiatives underscores his exceptional leadership and advocacy in the nursing field.

Annette Stanwick’s heart, resilience and profound learnings from numerous life-altering experiences have equipped her for inspiring, encouraging and uplifting others from all walks of life. With a nursing background and decades of experience as a health care executive, she has a deep understanding of health care issues, relationships, human behaviour and leadership.
As a speaker, author, Freedom Facilitator & coach, she has inspired a vast array of audiences and segments of society and is recognized for her inspirational excellence along with her ability to face difficult conversations with dignity and fearlessness.
She never dreamed she would publicly forgive her brother’s killers in the courtroom. That experience was so life changing she developed a passion to help others let go of their own painful experiences.
Her stunning stories, profound tools and strategies and Freedom Formula have empowered young and old alike to make positive choices and to forgive and let go of the past.
Along with her coaching, seminars & keynotes, she and her husband work effectively with prison inmates, Indigenous groups, couples and women in addiction recovery, helping them to rise above their painful past and to find freedom, meaning and purpose despite their struggles.
She has served on numerous boards and committees, is recipient of the Integrity Award presented by Rotary International; has been nominated for numerous awards, including more recently, “Top 7 Over 70” in Calgary, Global Institute For Evolving Women in the Category of Wise Women.
Her award-winning and best-selling book, FORGIVENESS: THE MYSTERY & MIRACLE, continues to have a global impact.

Marco Navarro-Génie, BA MA PhD

Marco Navarro-Génie, BA (Concordia University), MA, PhD (University of Calgary) is the founding president of the Haultain Research Institute.
Dr. Navarro-Génie was born in Nicaragua and grew up as an adolescent in Montreal, where he fled the communist regime that strangles his native country to this day. In search of broader horizons, he moved to Alberta in 1990. After two decades in academe, he joined the free-market public policy world. Before the founding of the Haultain Institute, he was the fourth President of the Atlantic Institute for Market Studies (AIMS) based in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Navarro-Génie is co-founder and Director of Nurses for Sustainable Care (NFSC). He is former director of the International Centre for Human Rights and Democratic Development (Rights and Democracy), and served as president of CIVITAS (2017-2019).
Dr. Navarro-Génie taught political Science in the Department of Policy Studies at Mount Royal University in Calgary, at St. Mary’s College, Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT), the University of Calgary, and Concordia University in Montreal. Dr. Navarro-Génie comments regularly in local, national and international media on issues of government, politics, and public policy. He is author of hundreds of articles, several policy reports, and three books. His latest book, co-written with Barry Cooper, is Canada’s COVID: The Story of a Pandemic Moral Panic (2023).

A consultant, project manager, strategic advisor and executive coach who has successfully guided companies and individuals through organizational change, digital transformation and pivoting in the face of economic, market and life changes.
A regular lecturer at the Alberta School of Business and instructor at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in negotiation, mediation and consensus building, Steven is also a researcher in the process of completing a PhD in Engineering is focused on organizational change and adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies by small and medium sized enterprises.
Retired Staff Sergeant after 20 years of policing, Steven entered politics and served as a member of the Alberta Legislature and Chief Government Whip. Steven’s understanding across police, politics, government and business provides a unique perspective on how to navigate the challenges, capture the opportunities and create an organization that delivers value to the customer.
